At this moment in time, Meridien Maritime Réparation offered inspection, estimation, plan design, and project management services in the maritime sector. Angello Marcotte and his collaborators quickly positioned themselves at the centre of the naval industry. 

2004

THE NANTICOKE: FIRST MAJOR AFLOAT REPAIRS CONTRACT

Meridien Maritime Réparation makes afloat repairs its speciality. 

THE NANTICOKE: FIRST MAJOR AFLOAT REPAIRS CONTRACT

Repair works on the Nanticoke, a Canada Steamship Lines vessel, was the project that crowned Meridien a central player of the afloat repairs market. The quality of our work, our ingenuity and respect for timeframes and budgets played an important role in earning us the respect of our clients, partners and suppliers. 

2005

THE FIRST SERVICE CENTRE IN RIMOUSKI

Centralizing our services in Eastern Quebec and bringing together our workforce are priorities. 

THE FIRST SERVICE CENTRE IN RIMOUSKI

To optimize our services, we relocated from the South Shore of Quebec City to Rimouski in order to centralize our services in Eastern Quebec and bring together our workforce. We rented a workshop and carried out our first construction projects, including several barges and tugs, we even arranged containers for the Cirque du Soleil. 

2007

PURCHASE OF A SHIPYARD IN MATANE

Meridien Maritime Réparation sets up shop in Matane’s industrial-port area. 

PURCHASE OF A SHIPYARD IN MATANE

Meridien Maritime Réparation purchased a preferred location in Matane’s industrial-port area. The riverside site enabled us to improve our flexibility, regarding both access to our facilities and our production capacity. Our production quickly increased, in keeping with our founder’s ambitions. 

2008

A NEW COMPANY SPECIALIZED IN SHIPBUILDING

From repair work to shipbuilding. 

A NEW COMPANY SPECIALIZED IN SHIPBUILDING

After completing over 90 afloat repairs contracts, Meridien Maritime Réparation threw itself head first into the shipbuilding sector. Contracts multiplied, and soon enough Meridien was carrying out projects such as the Ivan-Quinn ferry in June 2009 for the Société des traversiers du Québec. 

2010

MAJOR CONTRACTS WITH THE CANADIAN COAST GUARD

Construction of three halieutic scientific research vessels for the Canadian Coast Guard. 

MAJOR CONTRACTS WITH THE CANADIAN COAST GUARD

In 2010, Meridien Maritime Réparation undertook a shipbuilding contract for the Canadian Coast Guard. We built three near-shore fishery research vessels; one 25-metre ship and two 22-metre ships. The three vessels were launched from our facilities in Matane. Not only was this contract the first of its kind in Canada, but the launching technique proposed by the Meridien team was also unique.

TWO MAJOR BRIDGES

In 2013, a mining company contacted us regarding a civil engineering project and we were hired to build two 205-foot bridges. The scale of this project was colossal and provided Meridien with an opportunity to develop their facilities allowing for other similar, large-scale projects in the future.

In 2014, Angello Marcotte seized the opportunity to create a business collective, and thus, Meridien was born. The idea behind it was simple: build on the strength of the engineering and welding divisions to benefit the group’s client base. Several businesses from varied sectors were purchased, including: Mécanarc Inc. and Cameleoh! (2014), SPS Marine (2015), and ADN (2016). In 2014, Meridien also formed a business partnership with Diffazur, a French Company, which was particularly well-received in Europe.

MERIDIEN BUILDS ITS FIRST FACTORY VESSEL

The first Canadian Factory Stern Freezer Trawler under 27.4-metres for shrimp processing. 

MERIDIEN BUILDS ITS FIRST FACTORY VESSEL

Meridien has constructed the first Canadian Factory Stern Freezer Trawler under 27.4-metres for shrimp processing. This vessel meets the new Fisheries and Oceans Vessel Replacement Rules for License holders attached to vessels under 19.81-metres. Once again, Meridien stands out through its innovative ideas and tailored solutions adapted to the specific needs of the maritime sector.
